PaAlicia makes insurance work for freelancers. She does this by creating tailor-made simple insurance products from the ground-up. And she sells those through digital platforms that freelancers use to find work, manage their finances and more. Alicia’s aim is to help these platforms become strong brands and provide freelancers working through those brands with a hassle-free way of getting insured.
General Counsel.
As General Counsel you will have a crucial role when it comes to building and managing Alicia’s Legal, Compliance and Risk discipline going forward. A meticulously managed apparatus of the aforementioned three disciplines will be the fundament of Alicia’s robust legal operations, in an international setting.
What you will be doing.
You will set up the department for future international growth
You will draft and execute Legal, Compliance and Risk Management policies, so that Alicia will be compliant with all relevant regulation and financial regulatory legislation.
You will draft, review and manage legal documents and contracts with Alicia’s clients, partners and other business parties. E.g. insurers, brokers, platforms.
You will execute and secure any sanction laws applicable to Alicia, acting as Alicia’s complaint / fraud coordinator.
You will secure relevant processes and procedures within the Alicia organisation. Creating “compliance awareness”.
You will report about the latest developments within the legal discipline, drawing up impact analysis and action plans and execution thereof
What you have.
You are proactive, you have an entrepreneurial attitude and seek a highly dynamic growing international organisation, and you appreciate the fact that building up the company means that you need to have your feet on the ground.
You have a minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience (preferably with a financial service provider in a Business-to-Business-to-Consumer environment, law firm with financial sector specialisation) and up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulation, e.g.: insurance law, liability law and financial regulatory legislation (including European regulation, Insurance Distribution Directive)
You have demonstrable affinity with Compliance & Risk Management.
You are a teamplayer and you are equipped with excellent communicative skills.
